Our instructors are former and current swimmers who have a love for children, swimming, and a strong desire to help children become proficient swimmers. Our instructors receive formal training in and out of the water using the Dolphin Academy curriculum. Instructors must shadow experienced instructors before teaching their own class.
Background
The Dolphin Academy has been serving the CSRA for 10 years. The swim school offers swim instruction throughout the year at the Augusta Aquatic Center and utilizes two additional locations during the summer months. All instructors have been trained with the Dolphin Academy curriculum which was designed by company owners and instructors, Amy Ristroph and Lee Fuller. For more information, check out the Dolphin Academy website.
Curriculum
The Dolphin Academy’s curriculum is designed to produce strong, proficient swimmers. Most importantly, swimmers learn to love the water. The standardized curriculum ensures that a swimmer uses proper stroke technique and continues to learn over a period of time.
Classes are taught in a small group setting with no more than 4 swimmers per instructor with the exception of our Dolphin Babies and Orcas where the instructor swimmer ratio is 6:1.
