Gary Henderson, PRC Manager, USPTA

Gary Henderson, PRC Manager

Gary Henderson is from Leeds, England, where he was the Director of Tennis for the Leeds David Lloyd club. Gary has a phenomenal background as both a player, teacher and manager.

He grew up playing junior tennis in England and then went on to play at Mississippi State for 2 years. Afterwards, he played the pro tour, reaching a high of 237 in singles and 323 in doubles. He was a member of the Great Britian Davis Cup team, played Wimbledon main draw singles and doubles, and reached a high ranking of 5 in Great Britain.

He is a UK Senior Performance Coach, USPTA certified, and trained in First Aid and defibrillator. He has coached many world ranked junior and senior players, and has worked for David Lloyd clubs in several capacities.

Gary has 3 sons - Adam, Harry and Rory. His wife Lois is also from England and enjoys being a stay-at-home mom.

Vu Nguyen, Director of Tennis, PTR (Professional), USPTA (P-1)

Vu Nguyen, Director of Tennis

Vu Nguyen grew up in Augusta, GA, where he played junior tennis. He attended The University of Georgia, where he received his degree in Sports and Exercise Science. He also competed on the nationally ranked Club tennis team and Intramural team.

Vu began teaching tennis full-time in 2006 at PRC. He was the Head Tennis Professional, overseeing the 10 and Under Uunior Program, as well as the Performance Program. He also worked with the Adult Quick Start group, C-Team, and B-Team. During this time, Vu worked as a national Quick Start trainer for the USTA, whose mission was to educate coaches around the nation on developing 10 and Under Players.

Vu returns to PRC after 2 years in Atlanta working at one of the largest tennis academies in the South. His duties as Director of Tennis include managing the High Performance Program, as well as overseeing PRC tennis events. Vu is P-1 certified through the USPTA and Professional certified through the PTR.


Cheri Hain, Director of Play Program, PTR

Cheri Hain, Director of Play Program

Cheri Hain is from Evans, GA, where she grew up playing junior tournament tennis. She received a full tennis scholarship to Augusta State University and graduated with a degree in business. She has a 5.0 rating and is an active local league player, including captaining and playing on several state championship teams.

Cheri has over 15 years of teaching experience. She was the original coach for several current and former PRC top-ranked juniors. 2 of her boys are currently Southern Ranked PRC juniors, another is a Quick Start star, and Callie Hain is the star in waiting.

Cheri is in charge of our PRC Play Program, works with our Ladies CSRA League B and C teams/players, and teaches private lessons to all ages and levels.

Courtney Nguyen, Performance Coach

Courtney Nguyen, Performance Coach

Courtney Nguyen grew up in Evans, GA, and was coached by Craig Jones at PRC. She was ranked in the top 5 in the state of Georgia, top 10 in the South, and top 20 nationally as a junior player. She received a full scholarship to play tennis at Virginia Tech where, as a freshman, she led the team for the most singles wins in a season. She graduated in 2012 with a degree in Human Development and a minor in Psychology.

She began teaching at PRC in 2005, assisting with the Pee Wee, Quick Start, and Team Junior Programs, as well as teaching summer camps. She has worked with the Adult Quick Start program. Courtney was also an instructor at the Thompson-Woods summer camp at Virginia Tech.

Courtney returns to PRC, where she will be giving private lessons and assisting with the High Performance Group. Her previous experience as a top junior and collegiate player will be invaluable in helping to develop Augusta’s next group of top players.


Clayton Vaughters, Development Coach, USPTA

Clayton Vaughters, Development Coach

Clayton Vaughters, a native of Aiken, South Carolina and a former junior player under Craig Jones, comes to Petersburg from Houndslake Country Club in Aiken, South Carolina. Clayton graduated from the University of Virginia, where he majored in Chemistry, played club tennis, and ran marathons, having completed the Boston Marathon twice with a personal best time of 2 hours and 58 minutes. He has served as the Varsity Tennis Coach for Woodberry Forest School in Woodberry Forest, Virginia, the Assistant Men and Women’s Tennis Coach at the University of South Carolina Aiken, and as the Assistant Professional at Houndslake Country Club.

Clayton is a USPTA certified teaching professional, as well as an accomplished stringer. He looks forward to working with both the junior and adult developmental programs at PRC. In his spare time Clayton enjoys hiking, reading, and playing Court Tennis.


Steve Crislip, Development Coach, PTR

Steve Crislip, Development Coach

Steve “Coach” Crislip spent 29 years as a public school teacher, coach, and athletic director. He has coached High School football, basketball, baseball, soccer, track, golf, and of course, tennis. His last 13 years were spent as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Lakeside High School.

He graduated from Furman University in 1972, where he received a football scholarship, and has a Masters Degree in Education.

After retiring from teaching in 2001, he worked as Community Coordinator for USTA Georgia and taught tennis at Rae's Creek, Mount Vintage and North Augusta Country Club. Steve has been a member of PTR and USRSA, and is a USTA referee.


Athletic Development

Lisa Duckworth, PT, CSCS, CFS, Athletic Development Director, PRC Performance Program and 10 and Under Tennis

Lisa Duckworth,Athletic Development Director, PRC Performance Program and 10 and Under Tennis

As a student athlete at North Carolina State University, Lisa Duckworth graduated cum laude with degrees in Biochemistry and Chemistry. She went on to earn an advanced degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in Physical Therapy. Lisa has over 19 years experience in pediatric therapy, children's motor and athletic skill development, neuromuscular treatment techniques and over 25 years of athletic/ fitness training. She holds a number of specialized certifications including Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Children's Fitness Specialist (CFS), Personal Trainer, and Group Fitness Instructor.

Craig S. Jones, Owner, Director of Operations, USTA High Performance Coach, USPTA, PTR,

Craig Jones, Owner & Director of Tennis

Craig S. Jones has a long history of playing, teaching, and promoting tennis. He grew up playing tennis and multiple other sports in Union City, Tennessee, then went on to play varsity tennis at Rhodes College in Memphis. He began teaching tennis during college and worked for Washington Tennis Services at various clubs in Tennessee, West Virginia, and South Carolina. After leaving WTS, he served as the Director of Tennis at Houndslake Country Club in Aiken, SC. from 1987-1997, before purchasing PRC in 1998.

Craig is committed to the game of tennis, which is evident by his long record of volunteerism – USTA Schools Program Director, CSRA JTT league coordinator, CSRA Special Olympics coordinator, CSRA Pro's Association president, member of South Carolina and Georgia Tennis Association junior tennis councils, member of USTA Georgia Board of Directors, and member of USTA Southern Player Development and 10 and under Tennis Committees.

Throughout his teaching career, Craig has achieved numerous awards and distinctions:

  • USTA South Carolina, Georgia, and Southern Pro of the Year
  • 2007 Racquet Sports Industry "Junior Development Champion of the Year"
  • Coached South Carolina Jr. Fed Cup, National Zonals, and 16s Intersectional Team (2x National Champions).
  • USTA High Performance Quick Start Trainer and Club Consultant
  • Member of the Wilson Premiere Advisory Staff and the Wilson National Speaker's Bureau
